China is trialing the third phase of this vaccine in many countries of the world and it is expected to hit the market by the end of this year.
Russia has prepared the first batch of Kovid-19 vaccine Sputnik V. This information was given by the Interfax News Agency, quoting the Ministry of Health. Some scientists fear that Moscow has placed its reputation at stake by rapidly approving the vaccine. Sputnik V is the first vaccine in the world to go into production and Russia has promised to make it available by the end of this month. The vaccine usually gets approval after trials on thousands of people, but Russia has already cleared it. The vaccine is named Sputnik V because the Soviet Union sent the world's first satellite to space with the same name. President Vladimir Putin claims that the vaccine is completely safe and that one of his daughters has also been vaccinated.
The vaccine produced by Russia under the name Sputnik V can also be produced in India. According to Kirill Dimitriv, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), negotiations are on with Indian pharmaceutical producers. RDIF has funded the research and production of vaccine. It has been developed by the Gamalaya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Moscow. Dimitriva said, "India and Russia have historically been partners in many sectors. RDIF has been associated with Indian companies since 2012." He said that Russia has made a plan to produce 500 million doses every year in five countries. Apart from India, there are talks with Korea and Brazil.
Russia claims that it affected all volunteers in the Phase-1 and Phase-2 trials of Sputnik V. Within 21 days, the immunity developed. According to Scientists, the immunity doubled when given a second injection of vaccine. No serious side effects were seen on any volunteer. Phase-3 trial of this vaccine will take place in Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Brazil and UAE, besides Russia.
