New Delhi, Agencies.  After a seven-hour meeting of the Congress Working Committee (TadkaNews), it was decided that Sonia Gandhi will continue to be the interim President of the Congress Party.  A new chief of the party will be elected within the next six months.  At the same time, in the meeting of the Congress Working Committee (TadkaNews) before this, Sonia Gandhi offered to resign from the post of the interim president of the party.  He also asked to start the process of election of the new party president.  Sonia had offered her resignation, citing a letter written by leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad, about the change of leadership.  He sent a reply to the letter to party general secretary KC Venugopal.

At the same time, news agency ANI quoted sources as saying that in TadkaNews meeting, Ambika Soni said that the party constitution can be taken against those who wrote letters to Sonia Gandhi under the leadership of the party.  To this, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma said that they were within the limits of raising concerns, yet action can be taken if one feels that this discipline is broken.

At the same time, before this, Rahul Gandhi had expressed his displeasure over the letter and said that Sonia Gandhi was admitted in the hospital at the time the letter was sent.  The letter was written at a time when the Congress government in Rajasthan was facing a crisis.  What was written in it should have been discussed in the CWC meeting rather than in the media.  Rahul Gandhi alleged that those who have written the letter at this time have met the BJP.
